Beer: Novi Val
Brewery: Pivovara Medvedgrad
Country: Croatia
Style: IPA
ABV: 5.7%
IBU: 55
Serving: 500ml bottle
Appearance
Stray yellow beer, white full head with a good retention;
Aroma
An intense aroma of grapefruit, citrus, tropical fruit combined with floral, herbaceous and corn notes. Over time the aroma loses intensity leaving room for hoppy and resinous aromas with notes of pine that balance well with what’s left of the initial fruity and citrus;
Mouthfeel
Medium body with a marked carbonation. Refreshing sensation, easy to drink;
Taste
The grapefruit in the mouth is perfectly balanced with the bitterness of the beer to the point of making it seem that the bitterness is given by the grapefruit itself. Everything balanced by sweet notes and some fresh pine notes;
Personal opinion
Very good IPA, very fresh and pleasant to drink. Both aromas and flavors are well balanced. The bitterness is marked but absolutely not intrusive and quite pleasant as it is balanced with grapefruit flavor. Everything surrounded by tropical and herbaceous notes that are the finishing of this excellent beer.
